The Teacher's Day

This is our  ( I mean our daughter, my husband and me:) first year in the school and yesterday we've celebrated a Teacher's Day. Like every year, we decided to give small gift to our daughter's teacher. Now, she has only one teacher in the school (previously she had two ladies in her kindergarten).

Pierwszy Dzień Nauczyciela w nowej szkole mamy już za sobą :) Nie obyło się oczywiście bez małego upominku dla nauczycielki (w latach poprzednich przygotowywałyśmy upominki dla naszych przedszkolanek).

Since I do not know her taste of colors, I’ve decided that it would be a good idea to sew something neutral. I made a quilted cosmetic bag in neutral light color.
Ponieważ, nie znam gustu nowej Pani, pomyślałam że dobrym pomysłem będzie uszycie kosmetyczki w dość neutralnym kolorze.

I've used Gutermann Spotted variegated threads for quilting.
Całość przepikowałam cieniowaną nicią firmy Gutermann.

Inside, I was using a printed fabric in caramel.
Wewnątrz użyłam tkaniny w karmelowym kolorze.

And our daughter made this lovely elephant for her teacher. She is very talented and I am very proud of her.
A nasza córcia narysowała dla Pani pięknego słonia. Słoń jest naprawdę fantastyczny. Pani była pod ogromnym wrażeniem :)

  5. Uroczy słonik :-) A kosmetyczka... podziwiam całokształt i detale! Nawet z kawałka jednobarwnej tkaniny wyszyjesz cudeńko :-)

  6. What a wonderful gift! I would have loved this when I was teaching. Your daughter's picture is great. Neutral is a good idea too. One of my coworkers got a bag from a student once, but the mom let the second grader pick it out. It had giant hot pink sequins dangling from the entire surface and was so shiny. The student was very proud, but there's no chance it would actually be used by a teacher. People have many teacher gift ideas, but often forget to ask themselves, "What would I like to receive as a workplace incentive? Would these bubblegum-scented bath products be my first choice?" Anything handmade, yes please! (Excepting baked goods made collaboratively with the child who is constantly nose picking.) Quality chocolates, gift cards, requested classroom supplies, and sweet notes are also always welcome too.

  7. Love the quilting on the zippered pouch! Your daughter's elephant picture is just wonderful! My grandson is quite good at art too. It comes so naturally with children. The teacher will love that pouch!!!
